1996 Maldon Folk Festival

Neville "Fatty" Wilson died on October 5th 1996 in the Maldon Hospital.
Neville believed that live music should be available and accessible to all who wish to play, sing, listen and see. Through his inspiration and dedication, the ailing Festival of a decade ago was rejuvinated. He had the ability to find, recruit and if need be, press gang similarly minded people and had the foresight to guide the Festival to its present status.
As a recognition for his efforts, Neville was the recipient of the Graham Squance Memorial Award for outstanding service to the folk community in 1996. The award was bestowed by the Folk Song and Dance Society of Victoria on October 3rd 1996.
The committee would also like to note the passing of Roley Simmons, minutes secretary for the past four years. Roley was a man whose local knowledge and enthusiasm was invaluable to the Festival. He was generous with his time and expertise, and helped to structure a well meaning rabble into a professional committee.
